PGCB Fines Three Operators and Excludes Individuals from Gambling
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) recently announced that it has taken action against three gaming operators, handing out fines totaling $282,205. The board also placed several individuals on its involuntary self-exclusion list as part of its efforts to regulate the gambling industry in the state.
BetMGM Faces Major Fine
One of the operators, BetMGM, was hit with the largest fine of $260,905 for serious violations related to allowing self-excluded individuals to gamble online. The PGCB identified 152 instances where self-excluded persons were able to access online gambling services, which goes against the Commonwealth’s gambling laws.
Meanwhile, Rush Street Gaming and Stadium Casino Westmoreland were also fined for smaller violations. Rush Street Gaming received a $13,800 penalty for failing to file a license renewal application for its chief financial officer, while Stadium Casino Westmoreland was fined $7,500 for using revoked software on 11 of its slot machines.
Individuals Excluded from Gambling
In addition to the fines, the PGCB placed nine individuals on its involuntary self-exclusion list. Among them were four adults who left children unattended while gambling at a property within the state.
One incident involved a male casino patron who left a 12-year-old unattended in a vehicle at Live! Casino Philadelphia. The person was cited for cheating and trespass in addition to leaving the child unattended. Another case involved an adult woman who left a 12-year-old in the bus lobby of Mount Airy Casino Resort while playing slots for approximately 26 minutes.
The PGCB also denied requests from two individuals to be removed from the self-exclusion list. One man had left five minors unattended in a vehicle while gambling, and a woman had left a 14-month-old child in a locked vehicle during a hot day while placing sports bets.
Pennsylvania Lottery Winners
In a separate development, two residents of Monroe County struck gold by winning a $7 million jackpot from the Pennsylvania Lottery’s Cash4Life game. The couple opted for the Quick Pick option instead of selecting their own numbers, resulting in their significant windfall.
Despite their newfound wealth, the winners expressed their intention to continue pursuing their dream jobs and viewed the jackpot as a welcome financial boost rather than a reason to abandon their career aspirations.
